Die Godin van Liefde bou ‘n huisie by die see
Republikein 18 June 2008

This is the introduction of an article that appeared in the Afrikaans daily, Republikein about the Afrodite Beach Development. In the article John Savva of Afrodite Beach noted that once the development is completed, it will be the most beautiful place on earth – Namibia’s own Dubai. He described the project as unique. Architectural guidelines and conditions are introduced on Afrodite Beach to maintain its unique form, beauty and pristine image. These include a number of building limitations, no consolidation, no rezoning, no subdivision of single erven and the use of prescribed building materials and colour schemes of buildings.

The guidelines are aimed at maintaining individual creativity in keeping with the overall design and look of the development. Some of the features include a single entrance with 18 meter wide roads, various pathways to the ocean, a wall closing of the southern tip and along the B2 highway, more than two thousands palm trees – all of which creates an oasis.

Some of the impressive structures that will see the light, include a 5-Star hotel, office space, shopping mall and living units set in luxury and style. The development is being built on 275,000 square meters at a cost of N$1,2 billion dollars.

“This development is the best in it’s kind in the Southern African region,” said John Savva. “This is a dream which has become a reality. I am creating a small Dubai on the Namibian coast.” Traffic flow will easily be controlled while quad bikes will not be allowed in the development. Closed-circuit cameras will ensure safety on the movements of traffic in and out the development. Savva confirmed that, the development has attracted international attention especially the intended hotel and conference facilities.

“The selling of properties will begin soon. Regarding marketing, the sale properties will not be through public auction. Interested buyers can select the property of their choice, subject to availablity by contacting the developer or the developer’s selected estate agents. You will have the most beautiful see-view on this developments,” Savva said.

It is estimated that the development will create more than 500 jobs, while the building phase already employs more than 300 people. All of which are the pieces of a puzzle that will see Savvas dreams come to fruition in the Namib Desert.

Afrodite Beach: Am Langstrand entsteht eine Luxusoase unter 2000 Palmen
Kirsten Kraft – Algemeine Zeitung
